Consumer Survey

This update is approximately one year past due, but I am finally getting around to posting it. Last summer 2010 before we started producing meat products, we conducted a consumer survey to determine food and flavor preferences. Our intent was to use the results of the survey to guide our product development for our initial product line. A side benefit of the survey was as an educational opportunity for the older children at Casa Vida y Esperanza (CVE) to be involved in and learn about research. The young men and women from CVE were responsible for conducting the individual surveys and then were able to see the data analyzed and the results reported in a scientific oral presentation. Finally, the children were able to see the results used by a business to make decisions.

Here you see Karla conducting a survey in the foreground left and Francisco conducting a survey in the background.IMG_3171

Here is a small sampling of the results. These are the responses to an open-ended question - “What are some of your favorite foods?” The most popular answer was grilled steak, followed by beans, and then meat.slide15

Here are the average “like” ratings for different foods by men versus women. slide26

Thanks to Louie’s Finer Meats of Cumberland, WI for donating the meat samples used in this survey. Also thanks to the kids from CVE for all of their help conducting the survey.
