We have some new doors. Here is old loading dock door for the meat processing side.
Here is the new door. The man in the picture is Jesús, our neighbor who lives across the street from our house, who is a welder and built the doors. The smoke in front of the left door is because they are welding inside. We needed a door that could serve not only as a loading dock door, but also a pedestrian door for employees, vendors, etc. The right door can be opened for pedestrian traffic without un-securing the left door.
Here they are welding the new door frame to rods driven into the concrete.
We also put a new entrance door on the coffee shop side of the building. Here is the old entrance.
Here is the new entrance with a much wider, arched doorway and a beautiful security door also built by Jesús.
Those who have been to the building before we started renovation may remember two large and old solid wood doors that led from the future meat processing room to the back courtyard. Many people asked what we were going to do with these doors because they thought that they were pretty cool. Katie talked about using them as tables in the coffee shop, but we scrapped that idea and resigned them to the trash.
Well, we found a use for them. A local carpenter Roberto repaired a broken panel in one of the doors, and then we used the doors for a closet to enclose our water filtration system in the front loading dock area. Here they are installed and with two fresh coats of paint. Notice the new 7.5-ft tall metal loading dock door (described at the beginning of this update) on the right of the picture for location and size reference. These wood doors are very big – over 8 ft tall.
Here is the closet with the doors open. The interior of the doors still need paint.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. – Revelation 3:20.
